ABOUT MO•LOUIE

Mo•Louie is the moniker for Melbourne-based producer Monique (Mo) Sesto. With a voice balancing power and vulnerability merged with lush electronics Mo demonstrates her versatility as both a singer and producer. Her music creatively plays with cinematic elements with influences ranging from soul to avant-pop arranged on a bed of electronic sounds.

Mo released her debut single, She Said which made the semi finals of ‘The International Songwriting Competition 2016’ (ISC). Written & produced by Mo•Louie, mastered by Simon Lam (Kllo), Mo’s debut EP Fire Brick (2017) was celebrated by AAA Backstage as 'a collection of genre-agnostic soul excellence.’ The EP was launched at Melbourne Music Week in a show co-produced with electronic artists Youthfire & Abraham Tilbury. More recently Mo and her long-time collaborator Stephen Carmichael (Dirty Versachi/Youthfire) made the semi-finals of the International Unsigned Only 2020 Songwriting Competition for their yet to be released song 'Flames'.

2020 also saw Mo release her mixtape An Odd World (Mixtape), her first complete body of work mixed & produced by herself and mastered by Becki Whitton (Aphir). The mixtape included Iso Iso Iso Bored, described by Forté Magazine as “exciting, intoxicating and all out relatable”. Mo released her 2nd single Survivin' which was featured on Acid Stag's Friday Favourites described as “very cool, unique & interesting”, added to Acid Stag Radio Spotify Playlist and premiered on JOY fm radio.

On the performance side punters have witnessed Mo’s powerful and engaging performance over the years but most recently at Peel Street Festival and Archer Magazine launch among others during 2019 and 2020. In conjunction with this, her new co-produced event project 'Fem Fantasy' is rapidly gaining traction and aimed to support gender diverse electronic artists. Fem fantasy curated a sold-out show at Midsumma Festival 2020 at Common Rooms, where Mo performed alongside artists The Merindas, Lupa J, Youthfire, Soft Approach and many more. Fem fantasy’s most recent show at Loop Bar in March 2021 sold out in under 24 hours, propelling the team to put on a second show 2 weeks later that also sold out.

Mo has just completed a Bachelor of Music Production at the Australian College of the Arts (Collarts) and is already making her production and engineering mark. Her credits include mixing engineer for Negative Space Aphir LOUV Remix and vocal engineering/production for artists Your Girl Pho, Dirty Versachi, James Crothers (LION X) and LOUV.
